EMILY ANDERSEN
Emily’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at the Photographers’ Gallery, London; The Institute of Contemporary Art, London; The Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, The National Gallery of Canada Ottawa; the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh; The Barbour Institute of Fine Arts, University of Birmingham; Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art; Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai; and China Arts Museum Shanghai. A number of her portraits are in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery, and in many private collections. She has won awards including; The Photographers Gallery Award in 1987, Arts Council Awards in 1991 and 2009, British Council Award in 1994, and the John Kobal award for portraiture in 1997.She has published 2 books of photographic work, Paradise Lost and Found published by Hotshoe Books in 2009 and Portraits: Black and White published by Anomie in 2018.She also works freelance for clients including Oxford University Press, The Heritage Lottery Fund, and for the arts sections of newspapers and magazines including the Daily Telegraph, the Independent, Time Out, Elle Deco and Blueprint.
